Grand Duels is a competitive PvP mode where players can battle in real time against other players. Unlike all other game modes, players do not use their own monsters. Live Duels are unlocked at player level 20.

Basics

Players are presented with 3 random monsters out of a pool and must select one to be on their team. The process is repeated until the player has a full team of 3 monsters. The monsters come with default preset skills and runes, however the skills and runes may be swapped after the team is selected. Players do not use their own runes and instead may select any runes they like.

Players compete in matches, with each win earning them more and better rewards. After a certain number of losses, players cannot keep fighting and must collect their rewards.

Grand Duels also make use of skill warm ups, as shown by tapping the "Tournament" button when viewing a monster's skills. Skills that must warm up include: all area control skills (freeze, stun, cooldowns activated, 100% stamina removal, possession, corrupted and total blind), all skills that grant an Extra Turn, and all single target mega control skills (mega stun, mega freeze, mega possess, and mega corrupted).

Grand Duels are available Monday through Friday. Players can enter by spending 2 Grand Duel Tickets (earned by winning Classic Duels) or 20 gems. Players compete in 6 matches, but are knocked out after losing only 2. The monsters' levels are 130, the runes are level 7, and relics and talents are disabled. Additionally, the pool of monsters is limited to Cosmic monsters.
