When Pulse Bane found themself mistakenly summoned to Souls' Lair, they couldn't have been more thrilled. The dimension they came from was so nightmarish and evil that Souls' Lair HQ seemed like a vacation destination by comparison. But Pulse Bane has the good sense not to say that to anyone.

Lore[]
The monsters of Souls’ Lair can be a little too self-congratulatory about how grimdark and gloomy they are. They think their particular brand of necromantic chaos is the most evil thing in the universe, and revel in their fearsome reputations. But the place Pulse Bane originally came from was so nightmarish, the words to adequately describe it don’t even exist in our language.
Like many of the creatures that populate Souls’ Lair, Pulse Bane was summoned there by mistake when some of the Nebotus faithful attempted to find their long-disintegrated Lord. But unlike most of these unwillingly summoned monsters, Pulse Bane stayed with the infamous faction by choice. They hid in the crumbling castle for weeks, terrified of being found and kicked out, before finally emerging and pretending to have been a member for years. Since everything in Souls’ Lair is a wild mess, no one bothered to fact-check this, and Pulse Bane settled in quite happily.
The fact that Souls’ Lair headquarters was nicer than home speaks a lot to what they must have seen before arriving. And the way they vaporize opponents in battle is another clue that wherever Pulse Bane came from, it must have been a society where violence had incredible value. Perhaps there’s more to their seeming nonchalance than meets the eye, but for now, they’re happy to fight on the Lair’s behalf as long as they never have to go home.
