When Ryclops was trapped in a mountain, he spent a lot of time dreaming. Sometimes he'd talk in his sleep, accidentally sharing his adventure stories with the rocks surrounding him. One rock, Rygolm, was so enchanted by the stories that Ryclops took it with him when he escaped.

Trapped inside a mountain, Ryclops longed for fresh air and the trails he used to climb. Every day was spent in a dreamlike state haunted by memories of his past guiding trips. As time went on, Ryclops slept more and more, accepting that he would never break free.

But Ryclops talked in his sleep, and the rocks listened. One rock, Rygolm, was so enchanted with Ryclops’ stories that it dreamed of one day exploring the world outside. But just like Ryclops, the little rock was stuck where it was and unable to move. All it could do was listen.

When the dwarven miners eventually chipped Ryclops free of his rocky prison, they expected him to rush outside immediately, but he surprised them all by reaching down and picking up the wistful rock who’d been absorbing his stories. One tap of his magic staff, and the chunk of stone suddenly sprouted a face and began to float!

“You’re a good listener,” Ryclops said to the astonished rock, “and it gets lonely in the mountains sometimes. Join me on my adventures so we can write some new stories together!” From that moment, Ryclops and Rygolm were never apart.
