Squire Weosule was accompanying his lord, King Charmless, on a pleasant walk one day when they stumbled across Griffania Ironwings caught in a dark magic trap. Although they were unarmed, Weosule managed to use his wits to outsmart Griffania’s would-be kidnappers and help the Ancestor fly free. In exchange for his service, King Daeron made Weosule a noble knight.

Squire Weosule was taking a walk on the outskirts of the Light Kingdom with King Charmless one day when they heard a strange noise coming from a nearby cave. They ducked behind a nearby rock and peeked out to see what was making the noise.

To their shock, it was Griffania Ironwings! She was tangled in what looked like a net woven from dark magic, and not having an easy time of it. Two monsters clad in ragged scraps of Dark Army uniforms stood nearby, stoking a large fire. “Heh-heh!” one snickered. “She’ll make a fine roast dinner, won’t she?”

“What? They can’t EAT Griffania Ironwings!” King Charmless whispered. “I didn’t even know she was visiting the realm! We must aid her!”

“But we’re unarmed, and they have daggers!” Squire Weosule said.

“Look around. Maybe we can find a rock to throw,” King Charmless suggested.

As the two gentlemen searched for a rock, the deserters started building a fire. Griffania looked as if she was starting to tire. The more she struggled, the tighter the dark magic bindings squeezed.\n Squire Weosule was about to attack the kidnappers with his bare hands when he noticed a few pieces of coal had rolled away from the fire, still glowing hot and just within reach. He took a deep breath, took careful aim, and kicked them onto the deserters’ cloaks.

It only took a few seconds for the cloaks to go up in a blaze! The would-be barbecuers ran around screaming for a few moments, long enough for King Charmless to run over to Griffania and hit the trap release button. The mighty Ancestor didn’t even bother to take revenge on her kidnappers, but grabbed both Charmless and Weosule in her talons and took off for the Light Kingdom.

Once they were safely back, Griffania told King Daeron how Weosule’s quick thinking had helped her escape, and asked Daeron to give him a reward. Thus, the king elevated Squire Weosule to a full knighthood, making him the noble and mighty Sir Weosule, defender of the realm and champion of Ancestral honor.
