Skydkold’s ice shield, Froskold, is a family heirloom. Where he comes from, all would-be warriors must survive being tied up and sent out into the deepest seas on their family’s shield. Honor and glory await those who make it back home, whereas those who never return cast shame on their families.

Lore[]

Skydkold comes from a small village where people still follow their ancient traditions. One of these customs involves tying the arms and legs of young warrior trainees together and setting them adrift on their family’s shield. If the trainee manages to get free and bring the family shield home, they become an honored warrior and are considered an adult in the community. But if they fail to come back, their family loses their sacred shield and faces dishonor. Luckily, Skydkold passed his test with flying colors.
